Logan Stampede #11 YARDER

My husband is #11, notice the spelling of YARGER on his jersey. Oopsies- they changed it to YARDER, maybe cuz he gets so many yards? I think they're working on making him a new jersey with the correct spelling.

This post I get to brag about my husband, hopefully he won't be mad at me. Who am I kidding, Jesse never gets mad at me! :) Saturday was his first football game. They played in Woodscross, UT and they won, 20-12!! Jesse made the final touchdown for the Logan Stampede. If you are wondering what the Logan Stampede is... I copied this from their website:

The Logan Stampede is a semi-pro football team. Our goal is to allow those with passion to play football to continue to play as well as bringing entertainment and service to the local community. The Logan Stampede plays in the Rocky Mountain Football League which consists of teams from Utah, Idaho and Montana. We look forward to having a great season!

Here is the article from the local paper- The Herald Journal:

Notice Jesse Yarger is mentioned :) At least they spelled it right here. Go #11 !!!!

Jesse's touchdown sequence. I couldn't be prouder. He says he scored it for his girls- me and Avril.

Grandpa Bryan drove down with Jesse and Shelby to watch the game. Unfortunately, mommy had to stay at home with the little one who was VERY fussy that day. She must've been mad we didn't take her to watch her daddy play.

I think he looks good with black make up on :)

#11... my hubby

I guess Shelby fell asleep here. Jesse thought it was funny.

Uncle Chubbs, Avril and me. Shelby has gotten pretty good at getting Avril to stop crying. We may be offering him babysitting opportunities in the future.

After the game... poor Jesse was walking just like I did after giving birth.

Uncle Chubbs and Sleeping Beauty

We also had some surprise visitors yesterday... my cousin Robert Crockett and his lovely family drove up from Ogden since it was our grandma's birthday. Such a cute family!

Avril's First Social Event!

Usually Avril's time is spent sleeping, eating, dirtying diapers, and crying at home. On Saturday we decided to get out of the house and take her to her first social event, held in her honor! And for this social event we ventured all the way.... next door!!! :) The next door neighbors hosted a post-birth baby shower for Avril so we got to show her off to all of our friends. It was so beautiful and we had a great time visiting with everyone. Thank you Alycia (I didn't misspell my name, that is Alycia King Rickords) for all your hard work, it turned out amazing :)

We had so much fun dressing up Avril in her cute little Old Navy outfit. This was a gift from Aunty Amy. Usually Avril just wears her sleepers around the house but since this was a super special occasion we got to dress her up in her adorable new clothes. Yes, the shoes were slightly too big, but cute nonetheless.

Alycia and Alicia- thanks again Alycia- you rock!!

We still needed a mattress and bedding for our crib... everyone chipped in to get us a group gift so now we have what we needed. Yay!

Diana King and Lindsay King Grover preparing the delicious baby shower food. They also helped put together the shower, along with Cheri Murdock and Janet Garn. Thank you so much!!

Janet Garn, preparing the yummy strawberries!

The exquisite table decorations and food :)

Old roomies reunite :) Britney and her beautiful blue-eyed Hannalee came. I was so excited to see them!

Mommy finally getting Avril to sleep...

The fantastic four! Finally we could all be at the same place at the same time for a pic. I love all these beautiful girls to pieces! Keesa is having a little one of her own soon... can't wait!!

Margaret, me, and the grandma.

Her shoes fell off... big surprise!

Dolly and Kenny

Last night was the Logan 8th Ward Talent Show. We had the privilege of hearing a performance from Dolly Pardon and Kenny Rogers. They vaguely resemble my parents, Spencer and Gayle Parkinson. Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Parkinson came to babysit so that we could attend the event. What fun!

My mom wore my old wig from Hi-Lo's (dance team) to pull off the Dolly look. And the chest enhancement was achieved with two mini basketballs :)

This is the real 'thang' - Dolly and Kenny performing together

The mommy and daddy enjoying some time off from parental duties.

Us being goofs.

I also wanted to include a pic of my brother's new house he just bought! It is not too far from my parents' and also close to our house. We are so happy for the new homeowner, Uncle Jared :)

And of course I couldn't post without a pic of little Avril. As her bib says, she loves her daddy! And daddy loves her back!

Grandma Parkinson's BDay!!

Amidst all the baby excitement, Grandma Parkinson had a birthday!! She celebrated her 60th bday today. Doesn't she look fabulous for turning 60?

Beautiful birthday flowers brought over by the great grandma and grandpa Parkinson. I think they are orchids? Gorgeous...

Avril Arrives!

On Tuesday, February 24, 2009 Avril Carmel Yarger entered the world at 5:36pm. The 8 pound 3 ounce baby is a brunette and has dark, dark, big eyes. The eyes are now blue, but she remains a brunette. The three of us stayed in the hospital until late afternoon Thursday. She is now eight days old and a handful for us, but we are loving every minute (except maybe the late night and early morning ones). So far she has been a good baby and now is only waking up two or three times a night. She is always hungry and loves her mom's chest. Though this baby is a major blessing, we think we are going to be waiting awhile until the next one for sure.

Despite the evidence to the contrary, she has ten toes. I made sure I counted after seeing these footprints. You'll notice the doctor is Dr. Firth. He did an amazing job delivering Avril after only conducting two prenatal visits towards the end of the pregnancy becuase we came back from California really close to the due date. The delivery was anything but routine, but he insured we came home with a healthy baby.

Here is Alicia, Jared and I in the delivery room around three or four hours of labor. Alicia was super excited to not be pregnant anymore.

Avril's great grandparents stopped by to see the mom-to-be just before she gave birth.

I know this cry very well by now...

This is Avril just after the Apgar test and before she left the delivery room. I know babies can't see very well at all when they are born, but she is totally scoping me out to see if I'll be a good dad.

Another 5 minute old picture of the baby...

And this is the first time Avril got to look at her mommy and the first time mommy got to see baby Avril. However, mommy was pretty drugged at this point so we are hoping Avril didn't get a bad first impression.

Here is Avril's proud grandmother. She now has two grandchildren and couldn't be happier with them.

The smiling Uncle Chubbs, daddy, and Grandpa Bryan pose for the camera in the recovery room.

Avril started to tell grandma to take the picture of her good side, but fell asleep in mid-sentence and decided to wave.

We're a family now!

She was the most stylish eskimo in the whole hospital. This is Avril in her carrier all ready to go home. It was snowing outside so we bundled her up in style.

This sign was displayed on a bridge by our house. It was put together by our good friends the Murdocks.

Amy (whose two-year-old son, Taggart, is now dating our daughter) is shown teaching Alicia how to use the breast pump. However, we later found out that Avril eats so much that the breast pump isn't that necessary most of the time. Taggart is going to have to make a lot of money to support Avril's eating habits. We are really pulling for his train engineering career to work out.

Avril just got to meet her grandma Carme. She was overwhelmed with tears of joy.

Here she is again pretty in pink.

This is definitely one of my favorites. She is pretty good-looking if I do say so myself.

Still cute even though she wasn't the happiest girl at this point.

And she is checking out her fingers and making sure she has ten and that they all have good nails.

Amelia Bedelia is Avril's favorite book. She has heard it two and a half times so far. The reason for the half is she decided she wanted to eat instead of read.

Alicia put this together with some shots she took on her phone. Mommy is quite the creative cat!

Avril was overcome with enthusiasm when we were watching American Idol :-)

P.S. Jesse (me) was the winner of the baby guessing contest. I guessed that Avril would arrive on the 24th of February. Alicia has to pay up now! Thank you all for participating. I think Erka was the next closest with Feb. 23rd as her guess. Congrats to me!
