Spring Piano Recital

I decided to hold a Spring Recital for my piano students to give them the opportunity to perform and show off the pieces they've been working so hard on.  The turnout was great and I am so proud of each and every one of my students; they all did great!!
Madi Olsen, Sam Eliason, Jordan King, myself, and Kary Ausen

Here are some shots of the students playing:

We had some delicious refreshments afterward.  One person particularly could not get enough of these goodies:
Got Milk?
Mmmm... now that's a GOOD chocolate cupcake!

That Was Bizarre

So, you know how you do your laundry and sometimes find lots of interesting things in the dryer... like wrappers, or old movie tickets, or change, or maybe a missing earring, or maybe a BIRD?!?!  Really, that's never happened to you?
So today, Jesse and I walked in the door and heard a loud noise coming from the laundry room.  We walked over to the dryer and could hear a loud clamoring coming from inside the dryer.  We opened the dryer door but nothing was in there.  We thought that a mouse or some sort of creature must have crawled inside somehow, because it was so loud.  We pulled the dryer out a bit and could see that the grey, metallic tube thingy behind the dryer was moving all around.  Upon closer inspection, we saw a BEAK protruding through the tube!  We started to come up with all these plans of how we could help that poor birdy escape.  We thought we could put on some gloves and cut the tube loose, freeing that poor, helpless creature.
Poor, helpless creature indeed!  He proved us wrong!  That smart little birdy continued to maneuver around until he had poked his whole head through the side of the tube.  As we were standing around, debating what to do, he managed to free himself and flew right out from behind the dryer, straight toward the bathroom window, only to find himself crashing to the ground.  Back and forth he went, between the laundry room and the bathroom, trying to find a way to escape.  Here is our little dryer pet:

This pic is a bit blurry, but you can see he's perched himself right on the shelf, alongside the iron and some towels.

And here he sits, gazing out the bathroom window, wondering how he can escape and find his way back to his birdy friends.  Oh, the stories he'll have for them!

Tweety.

Jesse decided to step in and help out our flying friend by opening the window and removing the screen in the bathroom.  Here are the results:

Ontario, Oregon

Ontario, Oregon is where we spent the weekend.  Bryan was kind enough to drive the whole way there and back.  We watched another awesome Stampede game, with another TWO TOUCHDOWNS made by the amazing Jesse Yarger :)  Here is the newspaper clipping:

I didn't take many pictures from our trip, but of course Avril made it in a few shots:
Grandpa Bryan took Avril for a walk around the field.  If Avril had her way, this is all she'd be doing the whole day.

Avril with a bit of a messy face.  She ate a whole banana, a bag of sun chips, and an entire hot dog and bun all by herself!  Wowie, hungry girl!

Avril and her Grandpa :)

We enjoyed the trip to Oregon but were glad to be back home after all that driving.  Once again, the Stampede did not let us down.  A victory, leaving us at 2-0 for the season so far!!

Animal Sounds and Ice Cream!

Today mommy had a craving for Angie's and daddy was nice enough to take us to lunch.  Mmmm!  Avril especially enjoyed her free kids ice cream cone!

Avril was having a bad hair day today.  The waitress kept saying what a cute turkey tail she had!  Avril is very good at making animal noises.  She will always make the sound if she sees a picture or hears the word.  She knows how to do a monkey sound, a lion sound, a cow sound, and a fishy face.  The monkey sound is a bit hard to hear in the video clip... sometimes Avril does the sounds so quietly, and other times she'll belt out the animal sounds.  She's such a smarty pants.  We love her to pieces!

Avril's Walker

I have to thank my friend Britney, or I should say her little girl, Hannalee, for loaning us her fun little walker toy.  This has been a hit for Avril.  Although Avril can now walk on her own... she prefers to have fingers to hold, or her walker for security.  We all just get a kick out of watching her speed around the house pushing her baby walker.  Obstacles do not slow her down.  She just maneuvers the walker and goes back to her baby speed walking.  This girl certainly gets enough exercise!

Oh, Deer!

This is my parents' backyard.  There are 3 deer.  Can you spot them?  Avril loves to stand at the window and watch the deer.  Grandma isn't so fond of them eating all her plants though.

Avril's Moving Music

Avril has never been too fond of doing things the conventional way. She likes to show off by playing her keyboard while moving it all over the place. Isn't the music so pretty?

The Curse is Broken!

Somehow I managed to be missing-in-action for every single touchdown that Jesse made in football last season.  I was either nursing the baby, using the restroom, or didn't make it to that game.  Jesse started joking that maybe I shouldn't come anymore because every time I was there, he didn't make a touchdown.  The whole team didn't want me there because of this wretched curse!
Well, my friends, this season started out with a bang!  The first real game of the season I was there, watching my hubby the WHOLE game.  And he made TWO touchdowns!!!  I even saw him look in to the stands after each one to make sure that I was there and watching.  He even pointed at me and winked... I was just beaming, so proud of my hubby!
This game was just fantastic!  We came back from a 12 point deficit to win the game.  The weather was perfect, and Avril didn't take any tumbles this time :)

Avril is ready to go, wearing her Stampede attire!  She still has the remains of last week's face plant, but her nose is healing quickly.

Jesse in action!
I'm pretty sure this was taken after a touchdown... they seem kinda happy :)

Yay!  Good game!!

Bros

Avril was so excited to give daddy a big hug!

My two loves :)

Swim Time!

We decided to go for an afternoon swim with grams and gramps at the Sports Academy.  What a great idea!  Avril turned in to a little fishy and just couldn't get enough!

Thank you for taking me swimming, grandma and grandpa!  It was swim-sational!  We should do this more often :)
We plan on taking Avril swimming every Saturday now, since it was such a hit!

Happy Birthday to You, and You, and You!

April 16th marks a special day for our family.  There are 3 siblings with the same exact birthday... My brother Jared, my brother Adrian, and my sister-in-law, Arleen.  We celebrated early and all went out to eat at Sizzler.

Here are the birthday kids, holding their celebratory birthday root beer floats!

Brittney partaking of the yumminess.

Daddy and daughter sharing an ice cream :)

What are you feeding me, Daddy?

Good food, good times!

Another attempt at a family photo...

The siblings :)  Adrian almost cracked a smile...

Baby Animal Days!!

I had been looking forward to Baby Animal Days all year long. I couldn't wait for Avril to get to pet all the animals and to spend the day with all the family... even my brother's family from California!  We had so much fun!!

Here is Avril's reaction when we told her where we were about to go. She was so excited she couldn't stand it!

Uncle Jared and Grandpa Spencer took turns pushing Avril in the stroller.

Avril loved petting the baby cows.  She was just in awe at all the many sights to see!

A rare shot, where everyone is looking at the camera.
Look at the gorgeous mountains behind us.  Breathtaking.  My only complaint was the wind.

We took advantage of having the whole family together and posed for a family pic!

Cousins :)  Avril ALWAYS wanted Brittney to hold her hands and walk with her.  So cute!

Here are Grandpa and baby in front of the Clydesdale horses.  These are sure massive animals!  They pulled the carriage that we rode in.

Here is everyone watching the little kid sheep rodeo... video below:

I'm not sure who thought up this bright idea... put little kids on sheep and let 'em loose!  Sounds totally harmless...

They even had baby bear cubs there.  They looked so cute and cuddly.  And look at those little baby goats... they looked like they had smiles on their faces :)  We had a fantastic day!

Jammin With Easter Lamby!

Grandma Carme mailed Avril an Easter package for the special day.  Avril got a new Easter Lamby (we had a debate over what kind of animal this was and eventually decided that it must be a lamb), a cute dress, and a soft, furry, cuddly bunny.
Here is Avril dancing to the Easter Lamby song:

More Sushi, Please!

Here we are again on our date night to our favorite Sushi Restaurant.  For our Easter present, Jesse's dad gave us a little dinero so we could go out to eat.  This time we got to go baby-less.  Grandpa Bryan fed and bathed Avril and got her all ready for bed while we were out.  What a treat!  Thanks Grandpa :)  We had fun!

We had an ugliest face contest.  I won.

Avril Playing With her New Easter Ball!

Avril already likes to turn up her music loud.

Daddy bought Avril a fun exercise ball, just her size, for Easter. We had a blast watching her push the ball around! Notice how she tries to motion the ball to "come here", haha!

More fun with the balls!

And here are some more shots from Easter:

Avril got THREE Easter baskets!  This one is from the Easter Bunny.  She also got one from Grandma Carme, and one from Grandpa Bryan.  What a lucky girl!!

Her poor little nose was still freshly skinned.

Grandma Gayle reads Avril one of her new Easter books!  Reading books is one of Avril's favorite things to do... and by reading books I mean having books read to her, of course :)
