The Honeymoon Cruise

We left on our Honeymoon on January 19th, 2008. It was an 8 day cruise and it left port at Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The stops were Cozumel, Mexico and Costa Rica, as well as the Panama. We had so much fun together and it was wonderful to get away, even if we did come home sick and victims of identity theft.

This picture was taken in Cozumel, Mexico right after we disembarked the ship. We are standing in front of our cruise ship. It was so huge, I have never seen anything like it! Even by the end of the cruise we still had to look at the map to figure out where on the ship the various activities were.

This was taken in front of a cute little ice cream shop in Cozumel. We got dulce de leche flavored ice cream. Mmmm!!!

One of my coworkers told us we had to stop at Senor Frogs in Cozumel. We just took some fun pictures in front though because it was pretty much just a bar inside. We decided we would walk everywhere because we didn't want to spend money on a taxi. This turned out to be not the best idea because it took us over an hour to get to downtown and it started pouring down rain. We had planned an excursion with the dolphins and could not find the right place we were supposed to go in time so we missed it. I was SOOO disappointed but Jesse promised me on an anniversary we can swim with the dolphins. Its been a long-time dream of mine.

This is Jesse looking hip holding my purse and posing for the pic!

I wish that frog would stop laughing at me!

Now this one is funny.

Next we really wanted to see the Mayan ruins so we decided to bite the bullet and pay for a taxi so we could go see them. Right when we arrived we were greeted by the most gigantic spider I have ever seen. I thought this was a really cool pic.

Alicia in front of one of the Mayan ruins.

I'm pretty sure that door wasn't there back in the ancient Mayan times. It doesn't really go, what do you think?

This is the view from the top of one of the ruins. It was raining pretty hard so Jesse let me wear his long sleeve shirt to try to stay warm. We were pretty drenched though by the end of the day.

One of the Mayan people came out and took our picture, wasn't that nice? I'm surprised they knew how to use the camera.

I really liked to climb on the ruins. It made me feel like an explorer!

I think this was a vulture or something. There were several sitting atop this structure. We took a picture just as it was about to take off.

A really cool tree that grew in an arch shape, and a really cool husband standing underneath.

You can see the effects of the rain here. Brrr!!!

Some more cool Mayan ruins.

We wanted to get to see some dolphins but they wouldn't let us in because of the weather :( I tried to take a picture over the fence but this was as good as I could get...

Our next stop was Costa Rica and we got to go on a tour of the rainforest, travelling by horseback! These are banana trees and they put bags around the bananas I think so that the insects don't get to them.

This was taken on the van ride to the horses. Jesse took my picture when I really didn't want him to.

Jesse and Alicia on the way to see the pretty horses! :)

The yellow helmet means you're a beginner. Thus, Jesse and I both got to wear yellow. My horse liked to be in the front most of the way and Jesse's liked to follow mine.

I think Jesse looked a little big for his horse but whatever, they made it the whole way!

I like the shades, sweetie!

And look, he's representing Utah State, all the way in Costa Rica! It was VERY hot here, but I really don't mind the heat so I was happy!

Beautiful scenery

I can't remember the name of this river...

Our tourgide was the guy on the horse directly to the left of me. He was pretty funny and quite smart!

This is a picture of an ant in the rainforest. Its hard to tell here but it was enormous!

Bad lighting, but this was the only picture we had of the two of us on our Costa Rica rainforest adventure.

This was our next stop, Panama. We took a tour of the Panama Canal and we got to see a boat go through the Gaton Locks. It is amazing how they engineered this. It takes about 24 hours to go through the Panama Canal, which is a lot shorter amount of time than going all the way around South America which takes about 2 weeks.

These are the little choo choo trains that pull the ship through. They connect to the ship and there is one on each side. They pull the ship through the locks.

There is a difference in the water level in this picture so this was before they opened the gates and let the water level even out.

A couple of ships full of cargo. You can see the little choo choo trains too. They charge the ships a toll to go through the canal. The toll is based on how much cargo they have. The particular ship we watched go through the canal, they said cost about $185,000.00. That's a pretty penny. They said the largest toll on record is about $380,000.00 and the smallest is $10. That was for a man who wanted to swim through the Panama canal to be in the Guiness Book of World Records.

The gates are starting to open here.

And now the water is draining in to the lower level so the water levels will eventually even out and the ship can progress through.

One big ship.

And here it comes!

Me watching the ship go through the canal, wearing authentic Costa Rican shades!

The most handsome man alive getting ready for formal night on the cruise ship. We were served a fancy dinner and went to a show afterwards.

And this is us after dinner one of the formal nights on the cruise ship. We became famous by the end of the cruise, it was pretty fun because I've never been famous before. We played the game Newlyweds in front of everyone and gave people a good laugh. They played reruns of the game night on the tv that people watched in their cabin. Everywhere we would go people would stop us and say, "hey, aren't you guys the Newlyweds?" We were nice and didn't charge to sign autographs. We wanted to buy the DVD of our night of fame but unfortunately our credit card was declined when they were selling them. This was when we learned that someone was using Jesse's card while we were on the cruise! Very exciting. That is a whole nother story... Now we are back in sunny So. Cal. and we are enjoying the adventures of being real life Newlyweds. We had such an awesome time and will never forget our honeymoon :)
